Surfers' Coast Road Trip

Hi all,

Recently, I went on a last minute road trip to Great Ocean Road and Surfers' Coast in Victoria. Really really last minute. Luckily Raf and me managed to get an accommodation at a backpackers' hostel. As we drove along, a giant lobster made us get out of the car and take pictures of it. LOL!

Then, as we drove along, we made a detour to a dirt track and found an abandoned salt pan in the outback.

Long road ahead

After a few hours and hundreds of kilometers, we had arrived in Victoria!

We had crossed the state border!

Drove for hours again and finally we stopped at the 12 Apostles along Great Ocean Road.

Sorry, I'm lazy to put captions but the pictures speak for itself! Hur Hur... We stayed at a backpackers hostel for the night at Apollo Bay.

After breakfast, I drove again until we reached the end of Great Ocean Road at Surfers' Coast, Torquay. Woohoo! Without hesitation, I bought a bodyboard and enjoyed myself at the beach! No waiting of big ships to provide waves like in Sentosa! (Sorry if i offended the skimmers in Singapore!)

My new bodyboard!

After a few hours at the beach, we drove along Surfers' Coast Highway and stopped at Surf City, direct outlets of all the surf brands. I myself bought a No Deal & a Globe T shirt for $5 each.

Shopping!

Later, we had a late lunch, stopped at Werribee and then head back to Adelaide. Along the way we stopped to take pictures of a giant koala! Lol!

really giant....

We arrived in Adelaide at about 2am feeling exhausted and then zzzZZZZZZzzzzz...

Crabbing

Hey All,

Yesterday I went crabbing and fishing with Cik Razak & family and also Raf, a friend of mine. We went to Henley Beach Jetty. The weather was 25 deg. Absolute perfect weather! Well, I wasn't able to take pics coz my hands stank of the bait I used for fishing. Haha! in total I caught 3 fishes and a collective catch of 9 flower crabs. Oh well, as a consolation, I took pics of the crabs which were freshly cooked by Cik Ina. Black pepper flower crabs! Right from the ocean, straight to the pot!

Black Pepper Crabs

Oh, and also I bought a stand fan for AUD$13 at Big W. It's all self assembled so, I had a blistering time figuring out on how to fix the fan. The instructions doesn't seem to help either. But alas, I managed to fix it up and enjoy the breeze. LOL!

Does this fan help in making homes everyday?

I feel like playing Lego fixing this fan

Melbourne Road Trip

Happy New Year to all of you!

Ok, I spent the New Year in Melbourne. Damn! It sure is tiring to drive more than 8 hours to get there. pon reaching there we had brekky at Cik Hamzah's house, after which, we went to Laventon flea market.

Laventon flea market

The flea market reminds me of pasar malam in singapore but instead they sell lotsa second hand stuff and some antiques. I got myself a carabiner for my jungle hat. After that we retreat back to Cik Hamzah's house for lunch and then checked in to the hotel. We then explored melbourne city.

Melbourne city in the evening

Initially, we wanted to eat at Hard Rock Cafe but after we arrived at the location, it was closed due to unspecified reasons. Everyone craved for KFC so we went to the only halal certified KFC in Melbourne. Drove all the way there and had a satisfying meal... yum!

Halal KFC along Sydney rd, Brunswick, Melbourne

Everyone enjoyed the KFC meal

The KFC chickens in Oz are only available in Original Recipe but it was nonetheless more juicy and tender than the ones we get in Singapore. FYI, I used the breast meat as a benchmark for comparison. The KFC here close at 3am on weeknights though. After that, we retreat back to the hotel and called it a day.

The next day we had Maccas for lunch which is also in Brunswick, a suburb which is predominately occupied by people of middle eastern background and muslims too.

Miss the good old days!

After we had lunch, we went to Mount Dandenong for some sightseeing. It was a long drive up there coupled with winding twisty roads. There's a Giant Armchair awaiting you once u reach the top. Lol!

We then head to Grant's Picnic Grounds which is a place known for its friendly cockatoos and galah. It will readily eat grains and nuts you feed them!

Do you see God?

We then had dinner at a cafe selling halal malay food on Lygon St, Melbourne. The cafe is called Lazzat. But the food is lazat nonetheless. Burp! lol! 3 dishes + rice for AUD$6.50. I had roche + snickers gelato for desserts.

Everyone outside Lazzat after having dinner.

The next day, we went for some shopping at Richmond and then had lunch at a halal malay cafe on Swanston St, Melbourne. (Sorry no pics, forgot to take 'em! Damn!). After which we then went to Melbourne Aquarium. Entrance fee is AUD$17 for those who hold valid Oz student concession.

Can I have that lobster and giant crab for dinner please?

Touchdown

Today i just touched down in Adelaide. Its sooo sunny compared to gloomy rainy Singapore. Watched movies on the in flight entertainment throughout the journey to Adelaide and now i can't sleep at all! The in flight meal was not bad except for the breakfast; a miserable puny sultana roll. Along the journey back to my place in Adelaide, all stores are closed except the petrol stations because its Boxing Day today.... errrgh... I cant go get any groceries or my favourite bag of Doritos +diet lime coke combo. Ultimate junk food! Hmmm... took a peep in the kitchen cabinet and found a few easy to cook meals. Haha!Indomie, spaghetti, bolognaise sauce and instant soup sachet

Hur hur... I shall think what to eat later. Btw, here's a snapshot of all my ORIGINAL sneakers i have owned so far. All are mid cuts btw!

2 pairs of Reebok victory court pumps, a retro Reebok BB sneaker and a pair of Osiris Bronx
